Newest Version of ProLaw Increases Flexibility and Saves Time with Portal and Billing/Accounting Upgrades for Clients

December 6, 2016

Thomson Reuters Elite, part of Thomson Reuters Legal, today announced the release of ProLaw 2017.1, which introduces a host of new updates and features that streamline daily processes and help clients become more efficient both in the office and on the go. The most prominent release highlights include expanded capabilities within the ProLaw Portal, as well as time-saving accounting and billing enhancements.

“ProLaw Portal allows instant access to the ProLaw solution, using Internet Explorer to manage all aspects of a practice from anywhere, anytime. Now, we’ve provided some ways that users can further customize their portal experience and access documents easily,” says Elisabet Hardy, vice president of Product Management, Elite. “We’ve also added exciting enhancements to ProLaw’s accounting management tools to further maximize the productivity of financial and operation staff, including new options for automating payrolls or payments.”

ProLaw 2017.1 offers expanded portal capabilities, including the ability for users to view custom tabs created in their desktops from their laptops, as well as the ability to add, delete, and edit data in the custom tab fields. On-the-go access to documents allows users to search for and view documents in their web browsers and even download them to their desktops and laptops for easy editing.

Several accounting and billing tasks have been streamlined to help clients further reduce their risk of error and save time. Users can now post hard costs, such as court filing fees, directly to a client matter for billing and customize recurring entries to account for weekly, bi-monthly, or semi-annual payrolls or payments. A find-and-replace function for pre-bills simplifies and shortens the billing edit cycle, while a new notes tab allows the end-user to add billing annotations that are visible to the billing department, speeding up the final billing process.

A new Pro Filing enhancement enables users to check out documents from ProLaw’s document management system directly to their desktops or laptops, making it possible to access and edit documents away from the office, while placing the document in a “read only” mode for other users. The overall quality of Pro Filing for Adobe® has been enhanced, with Adobe now using the same .NET® platform as Microsoft® Office.

Finally, ProLaw 2017.1 includes several technology updates so ProLaw integrates with the popular Worldox®, iManage 9, and Opentext 10.0.0 document management systems as well as SQL Server® 2016, and Exchange 2016 from Microsoft.
