Thomson Reuters Elite VANTAGE Orlando Underway June 5-8

June 8, 2017

Thomson Reuters Elite, part of Thomson Reuters Legal, today announced that F.K. Day, founder of SRAM Corporation, a leading bicycle component manufacturer, and co-founder and CEO of World Bicycle Relief (WBR), delivered the keynote speech at the VANTAGE 2017 Worldwide Conference in Orlando on June 7. The speech was titled The Power of Bicycles: How listening to your end user is key to creating successful impact in business and philanthropy.”

WBR is a global non-profit that designs and distributes specially designed, high quality bicycles to students, health care workers and entrepreneurs in rural developing regions worldwide. Founded by F.K and Leah Missbach Day in 2005 in response to the Indian Ocean Tsunami, WBR has distributed over 340,000 bicycles and trained over 1,600 bicycle mechanics across Africa, South America and Southeast Asia.

In rural regions of the world where there are limited transportation options and distance is a barrier, access to high quality bicycles greatly improves educational, health care and economic outcomes. With the time saved by riding a bicycle, individuals are transforming local economies and creating progressive social change within their communities.

VANTAGE Orlando kicked off on June 5 and will run until June 8 at the Hilton Bonnet Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The premier gathering of Thomson Reuters Elite clients from across the globe, VANTAGE conferences provide an ideal forum for education and networking, giving attendees the opportunity to meet with current and prospective clients, view product demonstrations, and interact with top firms in the industry.

In addition to the keynote speech, WBR had a prominent role at VANTAGE 2017 with attendees having a number of different opportunities to discover more about the organization and its business philosophy and approach. An Elite charity partner since 2016, WBR also had a booth prominently located in the conference facility and sponsored an “Awareness Walk” at the conference to demonstrate the distances a child must cover to attend school.

“We are both excited and proud to be affiliated with such a worthwhile effort. World Bicycle Relief’s mission of global empowerment truly resonates with our employees, who selected it from a field of other well-respected organizations to support over the past year,” says Patrick Hurley, vice president of Customer Advocacy at Thomson Reuters Elite. “VANTAGE offers the perfect opportunity for our customers to get to know World Bicycle Relief.”

World Bicycle Relief (WBR) mobilizes people through The Power of Bicycles®.  WBR’s purpose designed bicycles are built to withstand the challenging terrain and conditions in rural, developing areas and promote long-term economic and social change. WBR also supports local economies and sustainability by assembling bicycles locally and training field mechanics to service the bicycles. World Bicycle Relief is a registered non-profit in the USA, Canada, U.K., Germany and Australia, and has assembly facilities in Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Angola.
