Available Versions
- The DirectLink is available with FRx 6.0 or higher.
- The DirectLink is supported in two Elite versions: 2.8b SP4 and Enterprise (any version).
- The DirectLink is available without the full upgrade in the Enterprise 3.3 release or higher.
Clients currently using Elite 2.5 or any earlier version prior to 2.80b SP4 must upgrade to either of the two supported Elite versions to take advantage of the DirectLink.
An upgrade to version 6.7 of FRx DirectLink is now available. If you are already using the DirectLink on FRx version 6.0, you can request FRx 6.7 with the Elite DirectLink software at no additional charge. In the form below, please provide the appropriate shipping information so that the software can be shipped directly to you. In the FRx Upgrade field, please select the option for the 6.7 software upgrade ("Upgrade to FRx 6.7").
If you are installing the DirectLink for the first time, the FRx 6.7 software will automatically be shipped once the scheduling request is submitted. There is a flat charge for installation of the DirectLink software; this fee, which is determined based on the version of Elite’s software currently installed, will be discussed when the installation is scheduled.
Overview
The FRx DirectLink is a real-time direct interface between FRx and Elite General Ledger. The DirectLink uses five (5) server tables in the Elite database to hold Elite Chart of Accounts data. However, there is no mass replication of the Elite transactional data into FRx tables.
The DirectLink is able to extract and report on financial data from the Elite tables on a read-only basis. The DirectLink allows users to easily report on summary balances and transaction details for both single- and multi-currency firms without converting transactional data. It is seamless to the user, and existing reports can be used with a few minor adjustments. Data is gathered from Elite General Ledger by the DirectLink using the same routines that gather data for standard Elite reports, such as the Elite Trial Balance or GL Detail Report. As a result, the process of balancing data between Elite and FRx is easier and more dependable than ever!
Benefits
The DirectLink interface is a direct approach to gathering and reporting Elite data. Some of the key benefits are as follows:
- The DirectLink is an online interface for single- and multi-currency reporting.
- With minor adjustments, the same reports used in the current interface can be used by the DirectLink.
- There is no transactional data replication from Elite to the FRx tables.
- The routines that create the Elite reports are the same routines that create the FRx reports, simplifying the process of balancing Elite data against FRx data.
- The DirectLink can drill-down to transaction-level detail for multi-currency reporting, so users can immediately provide support for the numbers on reports.
- Multi-currency reporting no longer requires multiple book codes to achieve comparative reporting. Because the entire database does not need to be duplicated each month, users eliminate days of work.

To receive the FRx DirectLink upgrade, clients must be on a supported Elite version and currently using FRx (FRx support contract is current). In addition, there will be a flat charge (per server) for a DirectLink upgrade specialist to apply the DirectLink and instruct a firm’s IT specialist on applying the necessary programs for the DirectLink Interface. The upgrade can be done during normal business hours with little interruption of business operations.
The upgrade includes updates for the following areas:
- FRx Client Program
- Elite Server Programs (Included already with Enterprise 3.3 or higher)
- Elite Conversion Programs (Included already with Enterprise 3.3 or higher)
- Elite Database update for the frl tables
