Tips and Tricks

The following are tips and tricks to help when using Elite software products.

3E IDE 2.7.2 New Features

Several new features have been added to the IDE with the 2.7.2 release of 3E that will simplify the development and maintenance of projects

  1. Run-time application objects (e.g., Presentations and Dashboards) can be added to a Project in the IDE, to streamline code control.
  2. All Designers with a Code tab now include a Stock Code tab that will allow custom developers to see (but not modify) the stock code built into an Application Object.

3E IDE Page Designer Tips

  1. If you have created multiple versions of a child form (i.e., a Form view and a Grid view), you can control which form is the default through the 'Current View' property under VIEWS.
  2. If you want to 'stack' the form level actions (e.g., create a drop down list for Add and Clone), just add other actions to the appropriate ACTIONLIST.

How to accurately use Timekeeper Rate Global Modify?

This process is used to globally change timekeeper rates by using an exact amount, a percentage or amount change, or a syncing rate. It can also be used to globally change timekeeper accounting rates and standard rates. This process can only be used to change rates 1-50, which are the individual timekeeper rates.

  1. Navigate to Billing Manager > Master Files > Timekeeper, from the menu at the top of the Enterprise application, select Timekeeper > Rate Global Modify.
  2. If multiple currencies are used, make sure the Currency Code is correct before proceeding to the next step. The firm's base currency will default.
  3. Query to select the timekeeper whose rates are to be changed. Important: The number of timekeeper's rates that match the query criteria displays in the Number of Rate Codes to be Modified field.
  4. Enter the effective date for the new rate. If a rate already exists for the date, the rate is updated; otherwise, a new rate will be created.
  5. Enter the new rate as an Exact Amount OR Amount Change, Percent Change, Minimum Amount, Maximum Amount, Round to nearest OR Syncing Rate.
  6. Enter the Effective Date.
  7. Select the Use Current Date Record option.
  8. Enter the Rates to be Changed (1 - 50).
  9. *Click inside the Scan Pass Only check box. Click OK to complete the Rate Global Modify process.

*Important: It is highly recommended to select the Scan Pass Only option prior to clicking OK. This will NOT make any changes to the data. A report will output detailing the timekeepers and the rates that will be added or modified. After verifying the report is correct, follow the steps above (again), but without selecting the Scan Pass Only option.

This process will bring forward all of the current rates and add/modify only the rates listed in the Rates to be Changed field.

Design Gallery

Have a calculated field being displayed but can't total it up in Design Gallery?

This can be accomplished with a little be of crafty XPath 2.0.

Simply use the XSLT "sum" function with parentheses to get a total. Eg.

This example would multiple the Rate & Hours per node and then sum them all together.

What are my options when resubmitting invoices through eBillingHub?

When resubmitting invoices through eBillingHub, you have three options:

  • Resubmitting a Rejected Invoice that you have adjusted within your Time & Billing System:

After you correct the invoice data within your Time & Billing System, you will have to rerun the invoice through the Billing Wizard which will allow eBillingHub to pull the newly edited data for the invoice. If you are using the same invoice number, the invoice will appear in the Billing Wizard with a pending status such as Hold, Rejected or More Info Required. If your time and billing system forces you to use a new invoice number, the original rejected invoice will drop off of the Active Invoices page once you click on the client within the Billing Wizard and display the new invoice in its place.

  • Resubmitting a rejected Invoice after making adjustments via eBillingHub's Editor Tool:

While on the Active Invoices page, select the invoice(s) that you want to process, and then choose the Validate and Edit Invoices from the Action dropdown menu, and click the Go button. This will take the invoice(s) you have selected back to the Validation Report page giving you access to the Editor tool. After editing the invoice(s), click the gray Submit button to resubmit your invoices. As a reminder, changes made through eBillingHub's Editor tool will not be written back to your firm's time and billing system.

  • Resubmitting a Rejected Invoice As Is:

If an invoice is rejected because of invalid information entered on the Ebilling vendor site, then you can resubmit the invoice "as is" from the Active Invoices page. This option is to be used when you do not need to make any changes to the invoice. To resubmit the invoice "as is", simply click the blue resubmit icon listed under the Action column on the far right. This icon is only available when the invoice is in a rejected status type.
