Tips and Tricks

The following are tips and tricks to help when using Elite software products.


3E 2.7 Reports

When you're looking at a presentation on a dashboard, it can be difficult to determine where the data came from. The following steps will allow an administrative user to track down the Report Object associated with a Presentation.

  1. In 3E, select the Presentation you're looking for information on.
  2. When the presentation comes up, note the address in the URL. This gives you the Object ID of the presentation.
  3. Go back to the Home Dashboard, and go to the AppObjects Manager server page. This is usually found on an Adminstration Dashboard. If it is not readily available from a dashboard, you can go to the Home Page By Process, and select AppObjectsManager from the 'Server Pages' dropdown.
  4. On the AppObjects Manager Server Page, select 'Presentation' for the Object Type, and enter your Presentation's Object ID in the Object Code field.
  5. Click Search. The Relationships pane on the page will show all relevant Application Objects that refer to the Presentation, including the Report, the Dashboards for the presentation, etc.
  6. The Related Objects in this page are hyperlinks. Click on the Related Object corresponding to the Report. That will show you all AppObjects related to that Report, including the Report Object. If you need further detail, click on the Report Object, and you will see the associated Metric Archetype, Parameter Object, etc.


Modify the columns that appear on the Time/Cost grids

This process is used to globally change timekeeper rates by using an exact amount, percentage or amount change, or syncing rate (change a rate code to match another existing rate code). It can also be used to globally change timekeeper accounting rates and standard rates. This process can only be used to change rates 1-50, which are the individual timekeeper rates.

  1. Launch the Enterprise application using an Administrator level account. Stop at the login screen.
  2. Click on the Advanced... button and select the check box on the option, Select different user or Group for saving form, navigation, and VBA changes. Then click the OK button.
  3. Continue to login by entering the user ID / password information.
  4. After clicking the OK button to login, you will be prompted to select a different User, Group, or Firm to log in as. Select Firm, to update the display of the time and cost grids firm-wide, then click on the OK button to log in.
  5. Select Tools > Options > Proforma Edit.
  6. Scroll down the list of VBOptions and confirm the Firm column has the "~1~1" etc. populated and remove the user's value for Cost grid columns and Time grid columns.
  7. Close the Options screen, then log out of the Elite Enterprise application.
  8. Follow the procedure above for each user id, in which Firm changes do not take effect.
  9. Log back into Elite Enterprise following the procedure above, using the Firm login option under Advanced.
  10. Click on Billing Manager > Proforma Edit > Utilities > Options/Preferences > Time/Cost Cards.
  11. Check the boxes of the columns to be displayed on the Time and Cost grids, then click Apply, then OK, then log out of the application.
  12. Log back into Elite Enterprise as a standard user. Open Billing Manager > Proforma Edit > Modify > Totals/Master Files > Fees - Detail grid and Cost - Detail and Go! The desired time and cost columns should now be displayed on both the time and cost grids for all users.

Note: Use Group or Users to make group or individual user access changes for the time and cost columns that appear in Proforma Edit.
