Year-End Close Tip

The last GL Period of a company's fiscal year isn't designed to close when the Close GL Period function is used without immediately following up with the Close GL Year function. The Close GL Period function will appear to close successfully and allow any reversing GJ entries to be posted in the next month, which is the first month of the new year, but entries will continue to be allowed. The last GL period of a company's fiscal year only closes after both the Close GL Period and Close GL Year functions are used. When both functions are used no additional entries will be allowed in the last period of the closed fiscal year, unless Prior Period Postings are allowed.

Tip on Improving 3E Performance When Running Metrics

Metric runs in 3E product should be truncated for performance purposes. Since the process requires constant communication with the server, having hundreds of metric runs under Select Runs will slow down the user experience with respect to the amount of metric runs retained.

As of Version 2.1 of 3E, a new retention policy for the metrics feature has been implemented. This function should be used to prevent a large build up of older metric runs. The general over maximum amount is about 100 metric runs. If the users would like to retain a certain run, the recommendation is to clone the metric and set a different retention policy for it to meet the business need.

Querying for Events Occurring on a Specific Day of the Week

To query for events occurring on a specific day of the week, go to Events and use the following query:

• Day of Week (Event Date) = <1,2,3...7>
• In the case where <1,2,3...7> is the number of the day of the week on which you would like to query (1=Sunday)
• To find all events occurring on a Friday use: Day of Week (Event Date)=6
