When we began considering Time Builder for our firm, we were excited about the possibilities of the product, but tempered that enthusiasm with the reality that it was a fairly radical departure from current methodologies. Consequently, we waded into the pool from the shallow end to see where it would go. The result has been everything we hoped for and more. Time Builder has met its primary objective in helping us to capture more time, more quickly and more easily. In the area of time tracking, firms cannot collect fees for time that is not properly recorded and tracked. Time Builder captures and analyzes billable activity that might otherwise be missed or under-billed. It provides attorneys and staff with a consolidated activity journal in the form of a daily diary available directly through Elite® WebView or as a printed document suitable for attorney review, markup and time entry.
Elite resells Time Builder as its preferred time capture solution for Enterprise clients. Time Builder is not a time entry application; it provides a safety net to ensure that all valid billable hours are entered accurately and completely into the time entry system.
Time Builder works in the background, invisible to the attorney, automatically monitoring key applications timekeepers use throughout the day. Tracked activities include document editing, email, Web browsing for nominated sites, Outlook calendar, phone and blackberry devices. The application can also make educated guesses on how time should be allocated based upon previous client/matter assignments by attorneys. Importantly, Time Builder also captures activity while attorneys are working away from their desks – in transit, from client premises and at home.
