Today's businesses operate as part of a global economy. Corporations and their employees are often involved in a diverse spectrum of activities. That is why a fully integrated, fast and accurate conflict checking system is no longer a luxury. For professional service firms, it's a basic necessity. Elite's Conflict of Interest System provides the tools to meet this need.
Features
- Online text indexing makes all potential conflicts immediately available for search at all times.
- Preclude redundant system data through single point of entry.
- Search multiple names in a single query.
- View potential conflicts from summary or detailed reports.
- Display or print "hit lists" of all related or selected parties identified in the search.
- Link related parties to clients, engagements (matters) or other related parties.
- Automatically search for duplicate names when a related party is added.
- Attach related parties to one or more mailing lists; related parties serve as both conflict database and prospect trading system.
- Search for proximity using "before," "after," "adjacent," "near," "not near," "only," or within one to nine words.
- Generate labels or reports from your conflict database.
- "Drill down" to view details of any conflict on screen.
- Define a "stop word list" to avoid erroneous or excessive search results.
- Control which parts of the database are searched.
- Define relationships and related party types according to your practice needs.
- Index the full text of client, engagement (matter), or related party names and narratives.
- Simultaneously search your records and file room management, so that conflict checks also scan information put into the records database, such as folder and document descriptions.
- Track parent/subsidiary relationships using DUNS® numbers and represent hierarchical corporate relationships.
- Perform a search, view results, and easily modify the original search criteria in an expedient manner.
- Print a selection from a "hit list."
- Track names that have no client or engagement (matter) relationship.
- Enter a group of names into the database as prospective related parties, clients or engagements (matters) while simultaneously searching the database.
- Save searches indefinitely; recall, modify or re-run searches at any time.
- Prevent two timekeepers from opening the same engagement (matter); as soon as the first conflict search is done, the second search would identify the first prior to execution.
- Perform "prospective" searches early in the process, even before completing new client or engagement (matter) forms.
Protect Your Firm with Elite's Conflict of Interest System
Comprehensive conflict checking provides tangible benefits. It greatly reduces the risk of taking on the wrong cases. With access to a fast and easy method of conflict checking, timekeepers can quickly determine which engagements (matters) to accept and which to decline. As a result, days of work will no longer be invested in engagements that must eventually be dropped. In addition, a fully integrated conflicts system can reduce a firm's malpractice insurance premiums.
Powerful Search Tools Provide Easy Access to Key Information
The Elite Conflict of Interest System is tightly integrated with other Elite applications, allowing easy access to information in any part of the system. Using Elite's full-text indexing system, users can selectively search client, engagement (matter), records management or related party information, including narratives. In Elite, each client, engagement, related party and link description provides up to 100 lines of text, all of which is fully searchable during conflict checks. Phonetic searches, proximity searches, logical operator searches and wildcard searches are all features of the Conflict of Interest System.
The Elite Case Management System data can be searched to see if names appear in calendar or docket entries. The financial system can be searched to see if the party ever paid the firm on behalf of another client.
By searching across the firm's applications, users are assured that all relevant data is considered when checking for potential conflicts of interest.
Flexible Inquiry and Reporting: Information Tailored for Your Firm
Search reports print the full search request along with any potential conflicts. Users can print extended lists, including all affiliated parties. As a result, the conflict report can display not only direct conflicts, but any related parties. This broader search provides references and reveals potential conflicts that ordinary conflict searches would miss.
Searches can be combined using wildcards: e.g., all words containing "share;" and/or Boolean operators, as well as proximity searches, such as find "General" adjacent to "Mills," or "Packard" not adjacent to "Bell." The search can be performed on a wide variety of full-text indexed fields. The result is an exhaustive conflict search and information the professional service firm can use to analyze many different types of cases from various views.
Further Integration Leverages Your System Use
Elite exploits the power of its relational database design by using the conflicts and related party tables as part of the prospect tracking system, complete with mailing list capabilities. This design provides a quick and flexible method of producing a wide variety of mailing lists. For those firms requiring more comprehensive marketing features, the Elite Marketing System offers an expanded feature set for professional marketing of professional service firms.
